What is the peak UV intensity?

Typical output intensity is greater than 18,000 mW/cm² of UVA (320–390 nm), measured initially at the end of the light guide.

What irradiance do I get at 1 inch?

18,000 mW/cm² UVA at a 1 inch working distance, per the brochure. Intensity rises as the tip moves closer and falls with distance.

What is the spectral output range?

The radiation flux spans 275–650 nm, from the UVB/UVC edge through UVA and well into visible light.

What is the lamp wattage?

200 watts. The standard module is a UVA-enhanced mercury short-arc lamp, Uvitron part UV1866.

What type of lamp is fitted?

A 200 W mercury short-arc lamp in a quick-change lamp/reflector module. UVA-enhanced is standard; UVB-enhanced and visible-enhanced versions are optional.

What are the lamp's electrical ratings?

The lamp runs at 40 VDC at 5 amps, driven by a tightly regulated switch-mode supply.

What is the lamp burning position?

Horizontal, the module operates in a horizontal burning position inside the chassis.

What is the exposure timer range?

0 to 99 seconds in Timed mode, set on the front-panel thumbwheels. In Manual mode the shutter stays open as long as the pedal (or an external signal) is held.

What is the intensity adjustment range?

25–100% combined, using the front-panel knob (which adjusts lamp power from 60 to 100%) together with the light guide insertion depth.

How tight is the lamp power regulation?

±1.0%, adjustable from 60 to 100% of lamp power, the basis for the system's very repeatable cure times.

What input voltages does it accept?

The UV1853 accepts 100–120 VAC ±10%; the UV2132 accepts 200–240 VAC ±10%. Each unit is factory-configured for one range, connecting to the wrong voltage can permanently damage it.

How much current does it draw?

Maximum AC input current is 4.7 A on the 120 V version and 2.5 A on the 240 V version.

What line frequency does it need?

Any 50 or 60 Hz single-phase source works; the specified input frequency range is 47 to 63 Hz.

What fuse does it use?

A time-lag 6.3 A, 250 VAC, 5.2 × 20 mm glass fuse in the rear panel, Uvitron part UV2136. Replace it only with the same type and rating.

What electrical protections are built in?

Inrush current limiting, line voltage surge, short circuit, open circuit, hot re-strike and over-temperature protection, plus a 3-minute ignition retry timeout.

What is the ignition retry timeout?

If the lamp fails to ignite, the supply stops retrying after 3 minutes. Turn the system's AC power off for 5 seconds and back on to reset the ignition timer.

Does it provide auxiliary DC power?

Yes, a 24 V, 0.5 A fan/auxiliary supply is specified, and the 24 V output on the rear DSUB can power external interface wiring such as relays.

What are the exact dimensions?

10.51 in long × 8.64 in wide × 4.05 in high, excluding the light guide and foot pedal.

How much does it weigh?

5.92 pounds, without the light guide and foot pedal.

What is the rated lamp life?

More than 2,000 hours typical, defined as the point where output drops to 50% of initial intensity. Life is affected by the number of on/off cycles.

How long is the warm-up time?

1 to 2 minutes from switch-on to full, stable intensity. The front-panel Ready LED lights when warm-up is complete.

How long before a hot lamp restarts?

2 to 5 minutes of cooling, typically. Hot-strike protection prevents the lamp from restarting while hot; it re-ignites on its own once cool enough.

What is the operating temperature range?

+10 °C to +40 °C (+50 °F to +104 °F).

What is the storage temperature range?

0 °C to +60 °C (+32 °F to +140 °F).

What humidity can it tolerate?

30–75% relative humidity operating and 10–100% in storage, non-condensing in every case.

How is the cooling specified?

Dual filtered DC fans, regulated by lamp infrared sensing. The foam fan filters are removable for cleaning.

Is there over-temperature shutdown?

Yes, the system shuts down at 65 °C internal temperature. If it trips, let the unit cool, clean the fan filters, or move it to a cooler spot.

Can it run continuously?

Yes, the SunSpot 2 is designed for continuous operation. Uvitron recommends leaving the lamp on with the shutter closed during breaks shorter than roughly thirty minutes rather than power-cycling.

What is the specified curing area?

A 1.5 in spot size at 1.5 in distance, or a 3.0 in spot at 3.0 in distance.

What working distance is recommended?

Roughly 1/2 inch to 3 inches from tip to substrate, depending on the spot size and intensity your application needs.

What does the heat filter pass?

The included UV2554 assembly transmits 300–450 nm, stripping infrared heat and wavelengths below 300 nm while only slightly reducing UVA output.

What is the optional UV1973 filter?

A shortwave in-line filter transmitting above 300 nm. It is the larger filter that mounts closer to the lamp, used alongside or in place of the standard heat filter for specific applications.

What control inputs does the DSUB offer?

Three: Lamp ON/OFF (low = off), Exposure Shutter Open/Close (low = open) and Lamp Hour Meter Reset (high = reset), all on the rear 9-pin DSUB connector.

What status outputs does it provide?

Two 24 VDC monitoring outputs on the DSUB: Lamp Ignited (high = ignited) and Lamp Ready (low = ready), ideal for PLC handshaking.

What logic levels drive the shutter input?

The shutter can be controlled by an external switch, a PLC open-collector isolated output module or a TTL-compatible output: high at 2.0 V or above, low at 0.8 V or below, 5.0 V maximum. All other interface signals are 24 VDC type.

Can the hour meter be reset remotely?

Yes, drive the Hour Meter Reset line on the rear DSUB high and the meter zeroes. Record the old reading in your maintenance log first.

How is the UVA intensity measured?

Over the 320–390 nm band at the light guide tip. Uvitron's UV0567 Spot Cure radiometer (reads to 19.99 W/cm² over 320–390 nm) is the matching meter.

What light guide sizes fit it?

Single-pole guides come in 5 mm and 8 mm diameters and 1 m to 3 m lengths, in liquid-filled and fiber versions; deep-UV liquid guides are also offered.

What multi-pole guides are offered?

2-pole, 3-pole and 4-pole guides with a 5 mm common end, in liquid and fiber versions and lengths from 1 m to 2 m.

Which wavelengths count as UVA, UVB, UVC?

Per the manual's spectrum chart: UVC is 200–280 nm, UVB is 280–315 nm, UVA is 315–400 nm, and visible light begins at 400 nm.
