How Spot UV Curing Works

Dispense
Apply a UV-curable adhesive, coating, or encapsulant to the bond area.

Position
Aim the light guide at the joint, spot sizes from 2 mm to 12 mm, fixtured or robot-mounted.

Expose
A timed burst of high-intensity UV (365–405 nm) crosslinks the chemistry in 1–10 seconds.

Full handling strength immediately, no ovens, no racks, no heat stress on nearby components.

Arc lamp or LED, which do I need?
If your adhesive datasheet calls for broad-spectrum or UVB/UVC content, choose the arc-lamp SunSpot 2. If it cures at a single UVA wavelength (most modern adhesives), an LED system gives longer life, instant on/off, and lower operating cost.
Can these run on an automated line?
Yes. SkyBeam offers PLC I/O and RS-232 control with per-channel timers; foot-pedal and TTL trigger options are available on all systems.
Will the UV damage nearby components?
Spot curing confines energy to a 2–12 mm spot, and LED sources add virtually no infrared heat. Shielding accessories are available for sensitive optics.
