Repairing Installed Equipment On-Site with UV

When the machine can’t come off the floor and the repair can’t wait for a shop, the cure has to happen on-site. A cordless UV wand lets a field tech re-bond a bracket, reseal a housing, or touch up a coating on installed equipment, cured in seconds, in place, without a power outlet or a bench.

Field repair means no bench, no mains, and no moving the equipment. A battery-powered UV wand carries everything the cure needs to the machine: apply the repair adhesive or coating and trigger a few seconds of UV. The bond sets on the spot and the equipment goes back into service.

Recommended Setup
SkyWand ›

The SkyWand is a cordless, rechargeable UV LED wand (365 & 405 nm) sized for a field bag, the tool for curing a repair on installed equipment where there’s no bench and no outlet.

Step by Step

  1. 1 Pack a matched adhesive. Carry a repair adhesive or coating that cures at 365 or 405 nm so the wand can set it in the field.
  2. 2 Charge before the call. Top up both battery packs before heading out; there may be no power on-site.
  3. 3 Prep the repair area. Clean the joint or surface in place so the adhesive adheres, field contamination is the usual repair failure.
  4. 4 Cure on the machine. Apply the adhesive and hold the wand over it for the rated time; the bond sets in seconds without moving or powering the equipment.
  5. 5 Confirm before return to service. Verify the repair is hard and tack-free before the machine goes back online.

Common Pitfalls

  • Arriving with a dead battery and no outlet, charge both packs before the call.
  • Skipping surface prep in the field, contamination causes the repair to lift.
  • An adhesive the wand can’t cure, match the field repair chemistry to 365/405 nm.

Questions

How do I cure a UV repair on equipment I can’t move?

Use a cordless handheld UV wand like the SkyWand (365 & 405 nm). It runs on battery, so a field tech can re-bond, reseal, or coat installed equipment in place and cure the repair in seconds, no bench, no outlet, no downtime moving the machine.

Can UV curing be done during a field service call?

Yes, a battery-powered UV wand brings the cure to the site. Carry an adhesive that cures at the wand’s wavelength, charge the packs beforehand, prep the surface, and cure the repair on the equipment.

What do I need to UV-cure a repair away from mains power?

A cordless UV wand with charged battery packs, a repair adhesive or coating matched to its wavelength (365/405 nm), and UV eyewear. The SkyWand kit includes two swappable packs, a charger, goggles, and a case for exactly this.
