Step by Step
- 1 Inject and seat. Fill the ferrule with connector epoxy and seat the fiber. Wipe the endface bead per your termination spec before curing.
- 2 Aim at the ferrule. Position the guide so the cone covers the ferrule body and the endface bead. Keep the tip close for a fast, even set.
- 3 Cure without touching the fiber. Expose for the qualified time. Because the bond sets in seconds, the fiber has no time to drift the way it can during an oven soak.
- 4 Balance a two-leg splitter. If you cure two connectors at once, check both legs with a radiometer, output should be within about ten percent per leg so both ferrules see the same dose.
- 5 Confirm, then polish. Verify the bond is hard before moving to endface polishing. A short exposure that only skins the surface will fail in the polish step.
