Curing Norland NOA 71 With a UV Spot System

Norland NOA 71 is a single-component optical photopolymer. Its manufacturer's datasheet cures it at 365 nm (absorbs 315–400 nm), 3.5 J/cm² for full cure. Here is which Uvitron UV spot systems cover that wavelength, how to choose between them, and what to confirm before you run production.

Which Systems Cover It

Wavelength Match
nm
This adhesive cures at 315–400 nm. The dots are our LED wavelengths, the green ones land inside its band.

Our LED wavelengths
365 nm 385 nm 395 nm 405 nm
3 of our LED wavelengths land inside this band, so an LED system reaches it. The SunSpot 2 arc covers the whole range as well.
SunSpot 2 COVERS
Broadband Arc

Broadband 275–650 nm output spans this adhesive's 315–400 nm absorption at >18 W/cm² UVA, with the intensity headroom to reach a 3.5 J/cm² for full cure dose quickly.

SkyBeam COVERS
4-Channel LED

Its 365 nm / 385 nm / 395 nm LED channels fall inside this adhesive's 315–400 nm absorption, with per-channel timers and life logs for a logged, repeatable production cure.

SkyWand COVERS
Handheld LED

Its 365 nm handheld LED covers this adhesive for rework, field service, and parts too large for a bench.

Cure Recipe Calculator

Norland NOA 71's datasheet gives a target dose of about 3500 mJ/cm². Measure the intensity your system delivers at the working distance with a radiometer, and this gives the exposure time for that dose, since dose = intensity × time.

Estimate only. Cure also depends on film thickness, geometry, substrate, and inhibition, so qualify the result on your own parts.

Read This Before You Rely on It. These are the manufacturer's published specifications, not our own test results. Whether a cure fully succeeds also depends on your film thickness, joint geometry, substrate, and lamp distance, so always validate the cure on your own parts and process, and confirm the numbers against the manufacturer's current datasheet.
